We are looking for a Senior Process Engineer – Bioprocess & Equipment (m/f/d) to join us as soon as possible at our site on the IZB Campus in Munich/Martinsried.

For this position you will perform the following duties:

• Design and maintain P&IDs for process and downstream equipment
• Specify, select and procure process equipment; manage vendor quotations and technical evaluations
• Plan and oversee equipment installation, commissioning and qualification
• Act as the primary technical contact for external partners - equipment vendors and engineering firms
• Translate process development results into scalable, robust and safe production processes
• Collaborate closely with strain engineering, downstream processing, manufacturing and QA/regulatory teams
• Support HSE and ATEX-relevant risk assessments for process and equipment design
• Contribute to technical documentation, SOPs and process descriptions for internal use and external partners
• Support process development for new and existing microbial production processes, applying a working knowledge of fermentation to prepare processes for implementation
• Contribute to process control strategy for batch and fed-batch processes

Your profile:

• Degree in bioprocess engineering, chemical engineering, biotechnology or a related field
• 10+ years of hands-on experience in bioprocess development and scale-up
• Proven experience creating P&IDs and specifying process equipment
• Track record of equipment procurement, installation and commissioning in a lab, pilot or production environment
• Confident interfacing with external engineering firms and equipment suppliers
• Structured, hands-on and solution-oriented working style, comfortable in a fast-moving startup environment
• Working knowledge of fermentation process control, automation and instrumentation
• Fluent English; German is a plus
• Willingness to work on-site in Planegg
